dog walking facts

Dog Walking Fun Fact #1:
It’s a fact! Walking is a terrific way to keep your dog healthy. Not only does daily walking help combat obesity and keep your dog’s muscles and joints strong, it also decreases their risk of arthritis, diabetes and a host of other conditions. And with endless trails, lakes and parks, Halifax is the largest metropolitan area on the East Coast to hit the trails with your pup.
Dog Walking Fun Fact #2:
Social dogs are happy dogs, and nothing excites a pack animal more than playing with their peers. Walks give your dog the chance to meet new dogs and people, and expands their ability to cope with new situations. With hundreds of dogs living the good life in Halifax, you can rest easy knowing you won't have to look far for amazing dog parks and beaches.
Dog Walking Fun Fact #3: Got a dog who has too much energy? Are they chewing rugs or shoes, or causing mayhem in the house? That dog needs to get outside and walk! Regular exercise can eliminate many destructive behaviors that boredom can bring, and save your furniture and shoes! Take a walk to some dog-friendly parks, stroll around a great Nova Scotia lake, or test your dog on the dozens of hiking trails that thread throughout Halifax to get the wiggles under control.

Puppies are way more playful than older dogs

Though this finding is not exactly groundbreaking, studies were able to quantify the differences: Puppies play with one another more than twice as often as adult canines, and 11 times as often as doggy seniors.

Frequently asked questions

Will I get to meet my dog walker before the walks start?
Yes. We always set up a one-time complimentary consultation to introduce you to your dog walker and to review your detailed client profile before the dog walks start.
Will I have the same walker each day?
We will match you with a dedicated dog walker. You will then have the same dog walker each day unless there are dates when they are unavailable. In this situation, we will contact you to let you know we need to set up an alternate walker to fill in for your dedicated walker. We will also set up a practice walk for the alternate walker to join your dedicated dog walker so the dedicated walker can introduce your dog(s) to the alternate walker and show them how they do everything.
Will my dog walker come at the same time each day?
We ask you to choose a two hour arrival time frame during which your walker will come each day rather than coming at a set time.
Where do you walk my dogs? We walk each client’s dog(s) in parks and forested areas around Halifax.
What is your cancellation policy for regular daily dog walking or ‘as needed’ dog walking services? We have a 24 hour cancellation policy for regular daily dog walking and ‘as needed’ dog walking. If you cancel with more than 24 hours notice from the earlier part of your arrival time frame, then we will be happy to credit the walk(s). Walks canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be refunded as we will also have to pay your dog walker. Cancellations for Mondays will need to be received before our office closes for the weekend on Fridays at 5 p.m.
When do I give a key to my dog walker?
Keys are to be given to us at the time of the consultation. If you do not have keys ready at the consultation, you may either mail them or we can set a time to come back during office hours to pick them up.

Keep your dogs out of trouble

Many dogs tend to start looking for trouble when they get bored. Bored pets are more likely to get into cabinets or closets, or up onto tables, and eat things that can be dangerous for them. Regular dog walks not only give pets exercise—the mental stimulation is great for keeping them out of trouble when they’re back home.
